After receiving a complaint, a company selling “military combat boots” has pulled its product after one customer discovered it left behind swastika prints.
A reddit user first posted about the issue, showing the footprint left by the boot – with what appears to be seven tiny swastikas.
“There was an angle I didn’t get to see when ordering my new work boots,” the man wrote.
The user’s post was viewed more than 2 million times, sparking both outrage, and a slew of Nazi jokes by others.
“Very comfortable. Nein out of ten,” one user wrote.
“I found them! The fact that they are a “military combat” branded shoe doesn’t help their cause.” wrote another user.
“Das Boot,” joked one Reddit user.
“Hopefully, they’re at least the Reich size,” joked another.
The boots sold by Conal International Trading Inc., could be found on Amazon.com which has since removed them from their site.
In an letter addressed to the public, Conal International Trading Inc. said “The design was not intentional and was a mistake made by our manufacturers in China,”. and that they “would like to issue our sincerest apologies to our customers and to anyone who was offended by the Swastika imprint that the boots left behind.”
According to its website, Conal International Trading Inc. was founded in 2002, and distributes shoes throughout the U.S. and the Americas at “affordable” and “competitive prices,” according to its website.
Despite the potential design error, the company still has plenty of other boots up for sale on their Amazon page.
