Raymore, MO, United States (4E) – A 21-year-old woman went missing last September and human remains were recently found, authorities positively identified that it belonged to her.

Police said the discovered human remains belonged to Jessica Runions of Raymore, Missouri. She was last seen on September 8, 2016 when she left a party in Kansas City. She was with a man named Kylr Yust, a friend of her boyfriend. Runions’ car was found burned in a wooded area two days after she was reported missing.

Yust was charged with knowingly burning a vehicle. He has not been charged in the disappearance of Runions yet. The attorney for Yust, Molly Hastings, said in a statement, “Kyler has not been charged with anything, with anything outside of knowingly burning a car, again, a charge he plead not guilty to, and that we intend to fight.”

The death of Runions is being investigated as a homicide. Her family has been notified on the positive identification.

Officials found the remains in a rural area south of Kansas City. Another set of remains were found in the same area but the second person was not yet identified. Human skulls were recovered on Monday and Tuesday this week. The identification came after a mushroom hunter told police about the remains.

Aside from Runions, Yust is also questioned in the disappearance of a former girlfriend named Kara Kopetsky. She was only 17 when she went missing and was last seen at the Belton High School in May of 2007.

Kopetsky filed a protection order against Yust in April of 2007. She was supposed to attend a hearing regarding the protection order scheduled on May 10 but she went missing six days before that.
