‘SNL’ has decided to punish writer Katie Rich after she tweeted an insipid joke about 10-year-old Barron Trump.
She was suspended Monday after a tweet she posted — then deleted — on Friday in which she said that Donald Trump’s 10-year-old son could become the country’s first “homeschool shooter.” her suspension is indefinite, according to reports.
After Rich deleted the tweet, she deactivated her account. However, on Monday, she reactivated her account and issued an apology.
I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet. I deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I'm so sorry.

Rich was hired to write for Saturday Night Live in 2013 after being recommended for the job by SNL cast member Cecily Strong.
SNL has become a frequent target for former host, now President Donald Trump, who has called the show “unwatchable, “boring” and “unfunny”.
Deadline first reported her suspension.
