Beijing, China (4E Sports) – Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant topped jersey sales in China during his retirement tour last season, beating two-time MVP Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
The numbers came as no surprise because Bryant is immensely popular in China, one of the NBA’s biggest global markets.
Curry placed second while another retired superstar, Michael Jordan, rounded out the top three in China.
The numbers were derived by sales from September 2015 to October 2016, based on data from NBAStore.cn and other online flagship stores in the country, according to NBA China.
Also in the top 15 in sales were Hall of Famer Allen Iverson (No. 5), now-retired Tim Duncan (No. 6) and 2017 Hall of Fame nominee Tracy McGrady (No. 12).
Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James made it to the list at No. 4 together with Russell Westbrook (No. 7), James Harden (No. 8) , Kevin Durant (No. 9). Kyrie Irving (No. 10) and Klay Thompson (No. 14).
The Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls joined the Los Angeles Lakers in the top four for team merchandise in China.
