(National Star-News) 76-year-old House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi dismissed President Donald Trump’s first month in office on Sunday, arguing that he’s “done nothing.”
Speaking to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “This Week,” “What has the Trump administration done?” she asked. “From their inaugural address, where they talked about decay and carnage, they’ve done nothing except put Wall Street first, make America sick again, instill fear in our immigration population in our country, and make sure Russia maintains its grip on our foreign policy.”
“I call him the deflector in chief,” said the California Democrat. “He has no jobs bill, so he has got to talk about the press. He has no jobs bill, so he has to talk about kids, transgender kids in school. He has no jobs bill, so he has to talk about immigrants and have a ban on Muslims” entering the United States.
Pelosi also said she doesn’t believe Republicans will be able to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, President Obama’s signature health care law, as many in the GOP have promised.
“How can they do it?” she said. “They do not have the votes.”
Republicans took the first step toward repealing the healthcare legislation last month through a budget reconciliation and are currently working on a plan to replace the law.
Trump has signed a series of executive actions since coming into office and held meetings with various groups of business leaders, and the White House says it is working on repealing and replacing ObamaCare, tax reform plans and building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.. Still, Pelosi was largely dismissive of his accomplishments.
