US ally uses $3M missile to take out $200 drone(National Star News)

(NSN) A small drone was shot down with a Patriot missile, which usually cost around $3m, a General David Perkins told a military symposium.

“They shot it down with a Patriot missile,” Gen. Perkins said in a video shared by the US Army on YouTube. “Now that worked, they got it, OK, and we love Patriot missiles.”

“That quadcopter that cost 200 bucks from did not stand a chance against a Patriot,” he said.

Patriot missiles are radar-guided missiles designed to shoot down other missiles, meaning they’re suited to small, fast-moving targets like drones. However, Gen Perkins suggested deploying large surface-to-air missiles as a defence was probably not economically wise.
