Tucson, AZ, United States (4E) – An Arizona fire department captain shot his former wife and another man before he turned the gun to himself inside a restaurant at a mall in Tucson, authorities confirmed.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department identified the shooters as 60-year-old Frederick Bair. He opened fire at the Firebirds Wood Fired Grill at the La Encantada Mall on Friday evening. The woman is said to be his former wife and he shot her in the leg. She is expected to survive.

As for the other man, he was fatally shot in the attack. Neither of the victims were identified by authorities but reports said the man was 57-year-old Eliot Cobb while the woman is 57-year-old Mary Jo Bair. It is unclear what the relationship of the two and authorities only said they were friends on Facebook. Mary Jo, Cobb, and Frederick all knew each other.

One of the people inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting is David Hardin. He said he was in the area celebrating the 18th birthday of his grandson. He shared, “We hit the deck. It was pretty startling, surreal actually.” Another witness, who was not identified, said that they were terrified so some went under the tables for safety while others ran out.

The motive in the shooting remains unknown.
