Puerto Rico’s Government May Soon Close Down

Extending aid to millions of hurricane-stricken families while running without a source of revenue, the government of Puerto Rico is threatened to a “total shutdown” next month which will also put a stop to aid provision.

“I don’t have any collections, and we are spending a lot of money providing direct assistance for the emergency,” Treasury Secretary Raul Maldonado was quoted.

“Without the assistance from Congress, Puerto Rico’s government will not be able to operate next month.”
